OGUK Offshore Medical (formerly UKOOA) in Dubai
Offshore workers need to pass an Offshore Medical Examination if they wish to work offshore. The old offshore medical standard was quoted as UKOOA. The current standard is quoted as OGUK (Oil & Gas UK)
The OGUK Offshore Medical is valid for a maximun of two years and allows an employee to work in the Offshore sector. However some persons may be given certificates of shorter duration if they have medical problems that need earlier review. The OGUK medical is required by employers or companies before personnel can be deployed to some offshore workplaces around the world and is recognized by Norwegian (OLF) and Dutch Authorities (NOGEPA) as before stated in the Hardanger Agreement ,JRM etc. The mutual recognition of medicals does not extend to mutual recognition of the additional medicals for those involved in Emergency Response duties. If you pass, you receive a certificate of fitness. This OGUK certificate has to be done by an OGUK Registered Doctor. It takes about 60 minutes with the doctor and nurse. The results will be available at the time of your medical appointment. If you are fit, you can get your fitness certificate immediately.

• Patient Health History Questionnaire
• Urinalysis – routine urine test with immediate result
• BMI – measurement of height, weight and calculation of Body Mass Index
• Near, Distance and Color Vision
• Pulse and Blood Pressure Measurement
• Lung Function Test (peak flow)
• Audiogram (hearing test)
• Consultation with an OGUK Doctor
